Alice Ernest

Mrs. Alice (Clement) Ernest, age 89 of Collierville, Tennessee, (formerly of Dyer) passed away from this life on Monday, July 10, 2023, at home. Funeral services for Mrs. Ernest will be conducted on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at 3PM in the Dyer chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Lane Self and grandson, David Brewer officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, in Trenton.

She was born August 22, 1933, in Carroll County, TN; the daughter of the late V.A. & Stella (McDonald) Clement.  She retired with the Gibson County School System & Dyer High School as a schoolteacher and attended Dyer First Baptist Church. Mrs. Alice loved her community, and it shows in her volunteer work. At Dyer First Baptist, she served in WMU, acted as Director of Dyer Nursing Home Ministry, sang in the choir, and taught as a Sunday School teacher. She also wrote articles for the Tri-City newspaper. Additionally, she was involved in her local school program, partially responsible for starting a band program in the school. When not helping her local community, she served on mission trips abroad in places such as Africa, Romania, and Costa Rica.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to the Tanya Taylor Memorial Missionary Fund at Dyer First Baptist or a donation to the Gideons in her memory.

She is survived by two sons, Randal Brewer (Cherie), Phillip Brewer (Melodi); sister, Janice Frevele; nine grandchildren, David Brewer, Rachel Brewer, Elise Goode (Joel), Joshua Brewer (Amanda), Kaylee Brewer, Jonathan Brewer, Lucas Brewer; and one great-grandson, James Russell Goode. She was preceded in death by husband, Joseph “Joe” Lacy Ernest; daughter, Teresa Lynn Brewer; and grandson, Matthew Robert Brewer.

The family will receive friends from 1PM – 3PM on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at the Dyer chapel. Karnes & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Alice Clement Ernest.
