Betty Turner, a devoted mother, beloved friend, and faithful servant of God, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, at the age of 71.
“Born on June 28, 1954, in Humboldt, Tn, Betty lived a life marked by love, strength, and unwavering faith. She was a proud and loving mother to her only son, Wyatt, who was truly the joy of her life. Her dedication to him was unshakable, and their bond was a beautiful reflection of her deep capacity for love.
Betty was a lifelong member of China Grove Baptist Church, and later First Baptist Church Dyer, where she found both purpose and community. Betty served faithfully in the church and was also a member of the church choir. Her faith in Jesus Christ guided every step of her life and was evident in the way she treated others—with kindness, grace, and a heart full of compassion. Whether through prayer, service, or gift giving, she consistently pointed people to the love of God.
Betty was also a devoted employee for the Gibson County Juvenile Court as a Youth Services Officer, where she faithfully served for 40 years, with no plans in retiring anytime soon. She calmly, humbly, and wholeheartedly served some of the most vulnerable youth in Gibson County and lived a life of purpose instilled in her by God.
Those who knew Betty will remember her for her warm and gentle demeanor. She was a woman who didn’t just speak about faith—she lived it. She touched countless lives with her example and left behind a legacy of love, service, and steadfast devotion.
She is survived by her beloved son Wyatt and Daughter-in-Law Kristen, Brother-in-Law Andre Wiley and nephew Jeremy Wiley. Betty also left behind a multitude of cousins and other family.
Funeral arrangements for Betty will be held at China Grove Baptist Church on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025. Visitation will be from 10:30am-12pm and Funeral services will follow at 12:30pm. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Baptist Church Dyer and/or China Grove Baptist Church in honor of her giving spirit and love for others.”
