Mr. Billy Wayne Powell, age 78 of Dyer, Tennessee, passed away from this life on Monday, November 9, 2020, at West Tennessee Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital. Graveside services for Mr. Powell will be conducted on Friday, November 13, 2020 at 2:00 pm in Sunnyside Cemetery with Bro. Jerry Stafford officiating.
He was born November 27, 1941 in Dyer, TN; the son of the late Dennis & Mary Annie Huff Powell. He was retired, after working at the Gurien Finishing Company producing stonewashed blue jeans; and was minister of the gospel for 43 years of the Church of Jesus Christ in Dyersburg.
He is survived by daughter, Julia Beth Coker; son, Billy Edward Powell; siblings, Hanna Jones, Mary Scott (Ray), Thelma McCaig (Kenneth), Sammy Powell (Debbie), Deloris Peevyhouse (Craig), Joellen Hartzell (Rich); and one grandson, James Coker Jr. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Minnie Pearl Mealer Powell; son, Michael Wayne Powell; brother, Charlie Frank Powell; and son in law, James Lee Coker Sr.
