Brenda Gayle Filkel

Brenda Gayle Filkel, age 68 of Dyer, Tennessee, passed away from this life on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at West Tennessee Healthcare Volunteer Hospital. A Memorial Service for Ms. Filkel will be conducted on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, from 1:00pm – 3:00pm in the chapel of Dyer First Assembly of God, with burial at Cool Springs Cemetery afterwards.  Karnes & Son Funeral Home are in charge of cremation services.

She was born March 4, 1953, in Dyer, TN; the daughter of the late Joe T. & Edna Worrell Williams. She was an LPN for Adoration Health and member of the Dyer First Assembly of God.

She is survived by six children, Kristy Johnson (J.J.), Thomas Shoemaker (Yari), Joey Henry (Amber), Michael “Buddy” Filkel, Brandon Filkel, Zion Filkel; siblings, Mary “Peggy” Roberts, Thomas Williams; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by two children, Cheyenne Filkel and Spencer Balfour.
