Charles Edward “Shorty”, “Charlie”, Stansberry, age 88, dedicated Pa, of Mason Hall, Tennessee, passed away from this life on January 15, 2023, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Memorial services for Mr. Stansberry will be conducted on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Kenton Church of God.
Charles Edward Stansberry was born August 29, 1934, in Rutherford, Tennessee; the son of the late George Henry and Lois (Sisco) Stansberry. Mr. Stansberry served in our United States Army and Navy.
“Shorty” was retired from the Obion Co. Sheriff’s Department as their oldest and longest running employee at the age of 84 in 2019. Mr. Stansberry was a 50-year member of the Masonic Pearl Lodge #200, and active member of the New Concord Baptist Church in Kenton.
“Shorty” loved with his whole heart and never met a stranger. He was passionate about gardening and shared produce with anyone that would take it. Most any Saturday, you could always find him at a sale barn. Looking for whatever “goats, or chicken” that would fit in his vehicle!
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Parker) Stansberry; two daughters, Rhonda Stansberry, and Gretta Pollock (Robert); one grandson, Matt Pollock (Tiffany); and three great-granddaughters, Ashanti, Mireya, and Waylie Pollock.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson, Adam Pollock.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shriner’s; St. Jude, or Obion County Walk of Hope.
Karnes & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Charles Edward ”Shorty” Stansberry.
