Dixie Davidson

Mr. Dixie Davidson passed away on Friday, May 5, 2017. Dixie was born in Mason Hall, Tennessee on November 7, 1936 to Sula and William Roy Davidson. He moved to Rutherford as a young man and was a lifetime resident where he worked 37 years at Kellwood Company. Dixie enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in Germany, where he married his wife of 59 years on June 10, 1958. He was a member of the Masons, Bone Lodge #252. His favorite pastime in retirement was playing dominos with his many friends. Dixie was an avid fisherman and hunter, and loved working in his garden. Dixie was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Rutherford. He is survived by his wife, Margarete Davidson; his son, Garry Davidson of Albuquerque, New Mexico; his brother, Clarence Davidson and wife, Eva; his brothers-in-law, Heinz Runne and wife, Irmgard; and Helmut Runne and wife, Karin; his nephew, Volker Runne, all of St. Wendel, Germany. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Erika Davidson; brother, Leroy Davidson; sisters, Brownie Joe McAlpine and Faye Walters. Services for Mr. Dixie Davidson will be held on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Rutherford, Tennessee with Bro. Jason Bogardus officiating. Interment will be in the Rutherford Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Karnes & Son Funeral Home in Rutherford.
