Jane was born and raised in Memphis, TN with her parents Zeke and Fleta Williams; brothers Robert and Richard; and sister Anne. She graduated from Messick High School during the era of World War II, rationing and volunteering at the USO for soldiers stationed in Memphis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Dyer First Baptist Church’s Mission Fund or to the National Veterans Foundation, a highly rated charity which provides assistance to veterans (nvf.org).
