Frances Powell

Mrs. Frances Mathis Powell, age 92 of Dyer, Tennessee, passed away from this life on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Dyer Nursing Home. Funeral services for Mrs. Powell will be conducted on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 9:00am in the Dyer chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Lynn Tharpe, Bro. Steven Fields, and Bro. Steve Skelton officiating. Interment will follow in Poplar Grove Cemetery, in Dyer. She was born February 15, 1925 in Dyer, TN; the daughter of the late Thoyce R. & Maple (Cunningham) Mathis. She was a homemaker and loving mother after retiring from Kellwood as a factory worker. She is survived by her children, Ronnie Powell (Mary Jane), Carolyn Vandergriff, Elaine Fields (Mike), and Pam Grady (Ray); one sister, Donna Bates; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Connie Wade Powell (2014); brother, Thomas R. Mathis; and great grandson, Caden Grace. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm-8:00pm on Thursday, July 20, 2017, at the Dyer chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home.
