James Robert Cooper

July 17, 1929 — August 11, 2021

Mr. James Robert “Sonny” Cooper, age 92 of Dyer, Tennessee, passed away from this life on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt. Funeral services for Mr. Cooper will be conducted on Friday, August 20, 2021, at 10:00 am in the Dyer chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Scott Jewell officiating. Interment will follow in Little Prairie Cemetery, in Caruthersville, MO.

He was born July 17, 1929, in Dyer, TN; the son of the late James Tollie & Ruby Prince Cooper. He was a retired truck driver for Watervliet Paper Company, and member of Beech Grove Baptist Church. He served his country with the US Army, as a Vietnam Veteran.

He is survived by three children, Tina Tucker (John), Dorothy Watkins (Joe), Jim Cooper; six grandchildren, Anna (Lee) Huff, JoBeth (Joel) Williams, Rachel (Nick) Stephens, Bobby (Nicole) Cooper, Will Cooper, Dylan Tucker; and six great grandchildren, Taylor Moses, Catherine Huff, Caroline Huff, Jake Williams, Nolan Cooper, and Ava Kate Stephens. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris Pate Cooper; and three siblings, Reba Yergin, Gene Cooper, and Brenda Cooper.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 8:00pm on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at the Dyer chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home. Karnes & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. James Robert “Sonny” Cooper.
