James Wayne Thompson

Mr. James “Jimmy” Wayne Thompson, age 74 of Dyer, Tennessee, passed away from this life on Saturday, October 10, 2020, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Thompson will be conducted on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Mt. Olive Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Bro. Charles Fike, Bro. Daymond Duck, and Bro. Bobby Garland officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery.

He was born February 28, 1946 in Dyersburg, TN; the son of the late Shelby and Opal Wylie Thompson. Jimmy was a self-employed truck driver.

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Nancy Thompson; two children, Cindy Prater (Dale), Stephen Thompson; three grandchildren, Shelby Thompson, Austin Prater, and Haley Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Wilma Thompson; sister, Joyce McEwen; and in-laws, Esbert and Evelyn McVay.

Pallbearers are Andy Scheller, Randy Hill, Colton Hicks, Brent Crooms, Mike Crooms, and Allen Cole.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm – 3:00pm on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Mt. Olive Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be followed. Karnes & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. James “Jimmy” Wayne Thompson.
