Mr. Joe Donald Grimes, age 79 of Dyer, Tennessee, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services for Mr. Grimes will be conducted on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 2PM in the chapel of Tri-City Church of Christ with Bro. Benny McVay and Bro. John Pleasant officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Methodist Cemetery.

Joe was born May 1, 1947, in Dyer, TN; the son of the late Coy Wagster & Dortha Grimes Thornton. He retired from Consolidated Agri Products (CAP) as a truck driver and attended Tri-City Church of Christ.

Mr. Grimes is survived by his devoted wife, Dorothy Grimes; three children, Paula Kolwyck, Dustin Grimes, Shelly Dycus; sister, Kay Hampton; brothers, Dale Thornton and John Thornton; fourteen grandchildren, Matthew, Amanda, Andrew, James Allen, Jessica, Kolby, Nicholas, Courtlan, Codey, Caitlynn Joe, Kelsey, Tara, Niki, Kirk; and twenty-one great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Slaton and Nanniebelle Grimes, stepson, Todd Kosark; sister, Joy Thornton; and grandson, Justin Kolwyck.

Serving as pallbearers are Codey, Mark, Matt, James Allen, Kirk, and Nicholas.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 11AM until service time, at Tri-City Church of Christ. Karnes & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Joe Donald Grimes.
