Joe Franklin Pate February 1st, 1932 - September 26th, 2018 Mr. Joe Franklin Pate age 86 of Rutherford , Tennessee, passed away from this life on Wednesday, September 26th, 2018, at Baptist East Hospital - Memphis. Funeral services for Mr. Pate will be conducted on Saturday, September 29th, 2018 at 4:00 pm at Karnes & Son Funeral Home - Rutherford Chapel with Roger Utter officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford Cemetery in Rutherford, Tennessee. He was born February 1st, 1932 in Rutherford , Tennessee; the son of the late Thomas and Sarah (Cain) Pate. He was owner and operator of Pate's Department Store for 60 years, served on the school board for 14 years, served as an Elder at Rutherford Church of Christ, served as Rutherford Volunteer Fire Dept. Chief, and was a Boy Scout leader. Mr. Pate was apart of several associations; Rutherford Baseball Association, Rutherford Business Association and Rutherford Investment Club. Mr. Pate was a member of Rutherford Church of Christ. He served his country with the United States Army. He is survived by his wife, Ann Pate; children, Bradley Pate (Jona), Bruce Pate (Lisa); grandchildren, Adam Pate, Bobby Barber, Miranda Pate, Jenilee Pate, Katie Pate; and great grandchildren, Madi and Maci Pate, Jordan and Hayden Barber. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one daughter, Sherry Pate Barber. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 29th, 2018 at Karnes & Son Funeral Home - Rutherford Chapel.
