Johnnie Churchwell

Mrs. Johnnie Ruth Churchwell, age 78 of Rutherford, Tennessee, passed away from this life on June 29, 2016, at Jackson Madison Co. General Hospital. Funeral services for Mrs. Churchwell will be conducted on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home in Rutherford. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, in Dyer, TN. She was born November 10, 1937, in Mt. Carmel, Tennessee; the daughter of Jake and Ruby Crossnoe Smothers. She was a seamstress at Brown Shoe Company. She is survived by two children, Brad Churchwell and Tim Churchwell; two sisters, Becky Smothers, and Sue Ann Cotham; seven grandchildren, Candy Churchwell, Courtney Churchwell Dowdy, Kennedy Churchwell, Alex Churchwell, Colton Churchwell, Trinity Churchwell, and Evan Churchwell; and one great grandchild, Reeves Dowdy. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Roger Churchwell. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm-8:00pm on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at Karnes & Son Funeral Home in Rutherford.
