Joyce 'Jo" Elizabeth Bowles

Joyce ‘Jo’ Elizabeth Bowles, age 89 of Smyrna, Tennessee, (formerly of Dyer) passed away from this life on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at The Waterford of Smyrna. Graveside services for Mrs. Bowles will be conducted on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at 3PM at Oakland Cemetery in Trenton, TN.

Jo was born December 16, 1933, in Dyer, TN; the daughter of the late Elmer & Jeane Ann (Horner) Mercer. She retired from the Election Register Office in Gibson County and was a member of First Methodist Church in Trenton, where she shared her ministry making prayer shawls.

She is survived by two daughters, Dixie Lovett (Mickey), Joy Axe; five grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. Jo was preceded in death by siblings, Eve Lee Holmes, and James Louis Mercer.
