Judith Claudette Barron

August 23, 1950 — January 8, 2021

On Friday afternoon, January 8, 2021, Mrs. Judy Barron passed away suddenly, leaving a community of friends and family in shocked disbelief.

In her 70 years on this earth, she spent 49 of them married to Billy Barron. Together they traveled to 13 different countries and all across these United States. Judy made sure to sample the food in every single one of them, so she could tell you the best thing to eat at each place.

Judy was an elementary school teacher for 41 years, the majority of which were spent teaching the 1st Grade at Dyer Elementary School. “Miss Judy” was not only her name, but also a title. One bestowed to her by each and every child who ever graced her classroom. After retirement, she was actively involved with the Gibson County Retired Teachers’ Association and became their acting President in 2020.

She had a great love for the Lord and was very involved with her church, First Baptist Dyer. She loved her Baptist Women’s Group, keeping the nursery, and singing with the kids at Mom’s Day Out. If ever there was an angel among us, it was her. She was one of the most beautiful souls I have ever and will ever know in this lifetime. She never had an unkind word to say about anyone.

I was blessed to call her Momma, and everyone was blessed who called her friend. She was greatly loved, and she will be greatly missed.

Her smile was much like her make-up, you would never catch her without either one.

Miss Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Martha Stephenson, and her husband, Billy Barron. She is survived by her daughter Kelly Barron Greathouse (Scott), her brother Ronnie Stephenson (Cathy), her brother Richard Stephenson (Nancy), and her brother-in-law Tim Barron (Lee).

Momma loved flowers of all kinds and colors, but for those who prefer to make a donation they can be sent to the following:
