Linda G. Mainord, born August 4, 1943, in Mason Hall, Obion County, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, and has gone to be with our Heavenly Father, reunited with her beloved father, Haywood Green, and mother, Evelyn Green (Finch). Funeral services for Ms. Mainord will be Sunday, March 8, 2026, at 3PM at the Union Grove Methodist Church in Kenton, Tennessee. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Linda was a proud graduate of Mason Hall High School. She went on to earn her undergraduate degree from Lambuth College and later received her master’s degree from Memphis State University. Education was a lifelong calling for Linda, and she dedicated 37 years to Memphis City Schools, where she influenced the lives of countless students and colleagues through her commitment and care.

Following her retirement from Memphis City Schools, Linda relocated to West Palm Beach, Florida, where retirement did not last long. Her passion for education soon brought her back to work with the Palm Beach County School System for three additional years before she retired again. She later devoted herself to caring for her parents in Wellington, Florida, a role she embraced with love and devotion.

Above all else, Linda lived for her boys, her sons Allen and Will, and she proudly and boastfully adored her twin grandsons, Liam and Lachlan. Her family was her greatest joy, and she never missed an opportunity to talk about them with pride.

Linda truly knew no strangers. She loved sharing stories about the many countries she was fortunate to travel to during her career, a remarkable journey for someone who began life as a farmer’s daughter in a small Tennessee town. Some of those adventures included trips with her sons, memories they will cherish forever. A fiercely loyal Memphis Tigers fan, Linda spent many hours along the basketball court lines cheering on her team — sometimes with her sons and sometimes proudly representing the family on her own. She loved the Tigers deeply and made sure everyone knew exactly where her loyalties stood. She was equally known for what teams she did not support — the Tennessee Volunteers and the Louisville Cardinals — and she was never shy about saying so.

Linda also found joy in the simple things she loved most: gardening, caring for animals, and spending time with her beloved grand dogs, who always held a special place in her heart.

She is survived by her sons, Rodney Allen Swan II and William H. Mainord Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Jennifer Mainord; her cherished grandsons, Liam and Lachlan Mainord; and her uncle, Johnny Finch.

Linda’s legacy of love, faith, humor, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace and reunited with those who went before her.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 1PM until service time at the Union Grove Methodist Church in Kenton, Tennessee.
