Loretta Jean Askew, age 87 of Bradford, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2026, at home. Cremation services are under the direction of Karnes & Son Funeral Home.

Loretta was born January 12, 1939, in Chicago, IL; the daughter of the late Elmer & Gertrude Mellin Gurgel. She retired with 28 years of service from Walmart.

Mrs. Askew is survived by her husband, Doug Askew; six children, Diane Hamlin, Judy Horner, Darla Sanders, Doug Askew, Cathy Barker, Steve Askew; two sisters, Nancy Matthiesen, Terry Larson; ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Sandy Pole.
