Mary Cowan

Mrs. Mary Evelyn Hinson Cowan, age 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Jackson General after battling sudden illness. Her family surrounded her with love during her final days before she embarked on her journey to reunite with her beloved husband, the late James. H. Cowan. Private services will be held Saturday, August 19, 2017. Mary Evelyn was born December 10, 1932 in Trenton, TN to the late Ernest and Eunice (Dabbs) Hinson. She married her soul mate, Jim, on July 26, 1977, and they enjoyed living all over the country until Jim’s retirement. In 1990, Mary Evelyn moved to Rutherford, TN, where she enjoyed her last 27 years spoiling grandchildren, crafting, reading, crossword puzzles, and playing card games. Mary Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Deborah Hardin Jones of Rutherford, TN; two stepsons, Steve and Johnny Cowan; six grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. The family has requested in lieu of flowers that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.
