Mary Sherrell

December 9, 1923 — March 16, 2017

Mary Lois Sherrell left this world at 12:20pm on March 16, 2017 at Madison County Hospital. She was a resident at Crockett Co. Nursing Home for 10 years. She was a member of Good Hope Methodist Church, serving as Sunday School teacher and president of UMW before the afflation with Dyer UMC, and later the Crockett Mills Christian Church. When her children were in school, she served as president of PTA and room mother many times. She lived on a farm most of her life and worked at Brown Shoe Co. for 26 years, retiring due to health. She was preceded in death by Odessie and Walter Lewellyng; her husband, Raymond Sherrell of 43 years; daughter, Patsy Pruett; granddaughter, Wanda Kay Bice; two sisters, Lavada Lucas and Ruth Bell; step-son, Raymond Wade Sherrell; two brothers, Albert and Cecil Lewelyng. She leaves a daughter, Bonnie Hilliard (Danny) of Crockett Mills; step-daughter, Frances Sherrell of South Haven, Miss.; six grandchildren, Buddy Takat, Sherrie Takat, Daniel Hilliard, Brett Hilliard, Vanessa Renfroe, and Jamie Pruett; nine great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; one special granddaughter, Nancy Selph; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Sherrell will be conducted on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home in Dyer with Bro. Tom Stolarlick and Bro. Travis Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Good Hope Cemetery, in Dyer. The family will receive friends from 9:30am-2:00pm on Saturday, March 18, 2017, in the chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home in Dyer. Karnes & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Mary Lois Sherrell.
