Richard Louis Simmons

Richard Louis Simmons was born on March 26, 1945, to Joseph Daniel Simmons and Eddie Pauline Connell Simmons in Cook County, Chicago, Illinois. Richard departed this earthly life on January 05, 2024, at the age of 77 years old at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould, AR.

Richard proudly served in the US Navy after completing his training at the United States Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, IL in 1963. He served on the USS Hunley, USS Sabine, USS Kirwin and the USS Putnam. Richard loved to tell stories of his time in the US Navy. He felt very honored to have served his country!

Richard is a long-standing member of the American Legion Portage Park Post 183 in Chicago, IL.

After serving in the US Navy, Richard held various clerical jobs and graduated from Loop College in 1978 with an Associates of Arts Degree.

Richard Louis Simmons was preceded in death. by his father and mother. His sister, Lorraine Simmons, died at 4 years old before Richard was born. However, he spoke of her daily and knew that he would have loved her dearly. He was also preceded in death by his brother Joe Marion Simmons, whom he shared a lifetime with, in Chicago IL.

Richard has no surviving immediate family members. He is survived by close cousins and friends.

Graveside services will be held in Walnut Grove Cemetery, in Kenton, TN, on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at 10:00AM. Karnes and Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Richard Louis Simmons.
