Ruth Elizabeth Tate

June 24, 1924 — January 29, 2021

Graveside services for Ruth Hollomon Tate, 96, will be held at Rutherford Cemetery on February 1, 2021.  Karnes & Son Funeral Home are in charge of the services.  Mrs. Tate passed away January 29, 2021 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Mrs. Tate was a long time member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Kenton.  She enjoyed being in the company of many family and friends.  Her favorite social activities included a good game of Rook or Canasta and meeting with the Young at Heart group. She also enjoyed lots of conversation regarding good books and politics.  She was a graduate of Kenton High School and Louisiana State University.  Mrs. Ruth was a teacher, a homemaker, a proud wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Tate; her parents, Cleve & Elizabeth Hollomon; and siblings, Marie Burkhead and Ray Hollomon.  She is survived by her son, Doug Tate, of Rutherford; son, Tracy Tate and wife Lynnette, of Rutherford; grandchildren, Tyler Tate and wife Lauren, Trey Tate and wife Katie; and great grandchildren, Ty, Dax, and Eli.  She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, their children, and one of her closest friends, Dana Penn.
