Thelma Whitley

Thelma Jones Whitley born to Fannie and Benjamin Jones near Milan, TN will be laid to rest at a family service in North Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Kenton, TN on September 20, 2026.

Mrs. Whitley worked 37 years at Methodist Hospital and after retirement volunteered over 30 years with the Methodist Hospital Community Health Fairs, where she received the Alice Warren Lifetime Achievement Award. She was a member of the Woodlawn Chapter of Eastern Star and served as the Grand Worthy Matron.

Mrs. Whitley was predeceased by her parents; sister, Polly Wonson; husband, Henry Needham Whitley (Sonny); daughter, Susan Thomas; son, Mike Whitley; and her twin granddaughters, Rachel and Caitlin Whitley.

She is survived by her sister, Cordelia Smith; son, Ronnie (Linda) Whitley; daughters, Barbara (Steve) Arnold and Sandra (Sonny) Hale; her daughter in law, Tricia Whitley; grandchildren, Shannon (Scott) Perich, Kathleen Lombaard, Emma (John Paul) Stevens, and Laura (Kevin) Kelley; great-grandchildren, Thomas and Maeve Perich, Quintijn and JP Lombaard; and great-great grandchildren, Caitlin Kelley and Conrad Stevens.

Mom was the Rock of our family and will be deeply missed.

The Memorial Service will be held at North Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Kenton, TN on September 20th at 2:00pm, followed by a graveside service.
