Mrs. Theresa Elizabeth Murphy, age 78 of Dyer, Tennessee, passed away from this life on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at her home. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Karnes and Son Funeral Home. The Murphy family is planning a celebration of life for a later date.

She was born August 9, 1947 in Brooklyn, New York; the daughter of the late Matthew Patrick and Mattie Faye Casey Aline. While her family was living in Florida, she worked for Publix in the seafood department.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, James Murphy Sr., four children, Tamitha Tierney, James Murphy Jr. (Kim Davis), Brian Riley, Robert Bosomworth; one brother, Scott Aline; six grandchildren, Britnie Walsh, Cheyenne Murphy, Joseph Murphy Jr., Shane Murphy, Brandann Murphy, Amanda Kelly, and four best friends whom she loved like sisters, Claudia, Gloria, Judy and Barbara. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Joseph John James Murphy, grandson James Anthony Murphy, brother Patrick Aline, and son-in-law Donald Tierney.
