Veneeta Marie Dodson King went to her heavenly home on January 14, 2026. Born on March 18, 1937, Mrs. King was a devoted member of The First Baptist Church of Dyer, Tennessee.

Mrs. King retired from Bechtel Jacobs at the Oak Ridge K-25 Site after eleven years of dedicated service. She also worked as an administrative assistant at Eaton Corp. in Humboldt and at Wendy’s International in Tampa, Florida.

Visitation with family and friends will begin Friday, January 23, 2026, from 10AM until 12PM, at the Rutherford chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home, with Funeral services beginning at 12PM with Brother Lane Self, of Dyer First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be held in Rutherford Cemetery.

Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Wayne King; her parents, Mr. Edward Matt Dodson and Mrs. Pearlie Lee Dodson; her brother, David Dodson; and her step-grandson, Eli Joseph Reyes.

She is survived by her three children: Roger Wayne King and wife, Pauline, of New Albany, Indiana; Michael Edward King and wife, Bum, of Thailand; and Pamela Leigh Eling and husband, Stefan, of Savannah, Georgia.

Mrs. King also leaves behind her grandchildren: Brian Bailey King and wife, Teresa; Taylor Ann Eling; and Matthew Stefan Eling. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Mikayla and Emma King of Owens Cross Roads, Alabama.

Donations in Mrs. King's memory would be greatly appreciated to St. Jude Research Hospital or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
